Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - What a shame
I have had this (from Walmart) about 3 years now I guess. I have used it exclusively for the HDD so I can record from TV and watch later. I have to say for me it was worth the $300 just for that. I love the HDD. That being said, the rest of it is useless. The DVD player used to work to play DVDs but now it does not open properly. Also, at any given time the unit will get "stuck" on "Load" and no buttons will work at all. Then I have to unplug the whole thing and plug back in again. The VCR has never been usable, as the sound has never worked on it. So, the HDD has been priceless to me, but the rest of it might as well not even be there. I am getting cable digital soon, so won't need the HDD recorder anymore. Guess I'll end up chucking the whole thing then.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Emerson EWH100F VCR,DVD,DVR
* I bought one from another seller about two months ago and the clock could not be set. This meant the timer could be set. What good is a unit without a clock and timer -- not good for anything!! I sent unit back to seller, had it marked so I would not get the same one back. Replacement unit seems to work fine --- Replacement unit records to tape, to hard drive and to DVD. All functions work right now but I have not had it very long. ...

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - a 1 star rating isn't a fair appraisal
I bought mine with extreme reluctance but I thought well I have had some luck with other Emerson products, so just maybe....... It worked great for approx 4 months. I then noticed one day the clock was not accurate. I couldn't reset the clock. Trust me I tried multiple times. Now I'm 38 yrs old, having owned too many gadgets/electronics, I never heard of the clock going bad first. That was a sign of things to come. So I marched forward setting all my timer recordings based on "Emerson Time". That worked well for about 2 months. At that point, the clock just quit showing up as a display. So then I decided to just use it as a video cassette player. Well after 3 weeks of work, now I just don't get power going to it. I plan to recover the tape that's in there, take it out back and shoot it and vow to listen to my inner voice the next time I decide to by ANYTHING Emerson.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - A Huge Disappointment... Not Worth The Headache
* I have to agree with the other reviewer. I am having the exact same problem where I cannot dub what is on the DVR Hard Drive to a DVD (thankfully it happened after only 3 weeks) so am heading back to Walmart to return it this weekend. Quite a serious problem to have when you pay almost $300. It looks to me like there should be a recall issued from the manufacturer to solve this (which there isn't), but I guess Emerson figured most people would encounter the problem after the warranty was up.

To be fair, if you just want a DVR and don't plan to put many of the recorded programs to DVD this product may be right for you. However, if you are looking to transfer lots of VHS to DVD or build up your recorded off TV collection in DVD you should avoid this item and continue your research. I spent an extra $20 to buy the Pioneer DVR-640H-S DVD Recorder with 160GB DVR (cheapest price around offered by Amazon) and it has great reviews. Will review that one once I get it and had a chance to test it out. ...

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
I bought one of these from Wal-Mart. Three months later the Hard Drive went out. When trying to record a DVD from the hard drive, it would record about 3 seconds, then stop. Wal-Mart would'nt help me because it had been over 90 days. So, I sent it in to Emerson. About 4 months later, I finally got it back. It worked great for about two months, then the same thing happened. Now they are telling me they can fix it, but I have to pay for the repair. I don't think so. Save yourself a headache and do not buy this recorder, or anything from Emerson for that matter.

You can say this about D.E.B.S.: director Angela Robinson’s 2005 feature isn’t very good, but it is surprisingly entertaining. The premise, which bears a passing resemblance to any number of previous films (from Heathers and Clueless to Charlie’s Angels and the Austin Powers franchise), involves a secret government agency recruiting young women as spies, based on their smarts, their ability to lie convincingly, and the fact that they look fetching in ultra-miniskirts. Four of the D.E.B.S. are then charged with collaring "criminal mastermind" Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster), who has returned to the States after hatching all manner of nefarious plots overseas. Then comes the twist: Diamond is gay, and one of our heroines, Amy Bradshaw (Sara Foster), unexpectedly finds herself falling in love with her. Out goes the espionage element; in comes the love story, and therein lies the surprise, as this burgeoning lesbian relationship is handled with unexpected sympathy, even tenderness. Sure, the acting, even by veteran grownups like Holland Taylor and Michael Clarke Duncan, is almost uniformly lame, and the script is silly; overall, the film would have to put on considerable weight to even be considered frothy. Still, D.E.B.S. isn’t a bad way to kill a couple of hours. DVD bonus features include a making-of featurette and commentary by Robinson and the cast. --Sam Graham

The teaming of Johnny Knoxville (Jackass: The Movie) and Seann William Scott (Dude, Where's My Car?) as well as the presence of the '70s-flavored car chases that were a specialty of the TV series guarantees that The Dukes of Hazzard will be even more lowbrow than the CBS TV series (1979-85) that inspired it. However, this brain-damaging comedy is more "rehash" than "remake," as good ol' Georgiaboys Luke Duke (Knoxville) and his cousin Bo (Scott) are frequently upstaged bythe General Lee, the Confederate-flagged '69 Charger that they drive, jump, race, and fly in as they smuggle moonshine for their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson). Meanwhile, cousin Daisy Duke (Jessica Simpson) is reliably available to model her short-shorts (aka "Daisy Dukes") and awesome figure (and let's face it, Simpson's talents pretty much begin and end right there), while corrupt honcho Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds, who should know better) recruits a local NASCAR star to advance his wily scheme of converting Hazzard County into a strip mine. Director Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers) manages to mine some good-natured humor from the movie's oval-track detour and a few colorful supporting players (notably Kevin Hefferman as the Duke's pal Sheev). Otherwise, consider yourself warned: The Dukes of Hazzard is shameless Hollywood product at its most forgettable, trafficking in shameless white, rural Southern stereotypes. If you can make itto the end, there's a blooper reel to reward your endurance. --Jeff Shannon

DVD features
Yes, the unrated edition of The Dukes of Hazzard has nudity... but no, it's not of Jessica Simpson, but topless sorority girls. There are also two sets--"PG-13" and "unrated"--of deleted scenes and bloopers. The four minutes of unrated deleted scenes (supplementing the 25 minutes of "PG-13" deleted scenes) include more sorority girls and a menage à trois for Johnny Knoxville . The five minutes of unrated bloopers (the same amount as the "PG-13" bloopers) feature a few more girls but mostly bad language. Featurettes discuss the Daisy Duke short shorts (and show how you can make your own), car stunts, and the making of the movie (narrated by a cast member of the original TV series). --David Horiuchi
